MPC restored two Royal Fleet Auxiliary lifeboats, reviving faded gelcoat and restoring colour vibrancy. Through expert sanding, polishing, and ceramic coating, we delivered a durable finish with improved visibility and long-term UV protection.
The project involved wet and dry sanding through multiple grades to remove oxidisation, compound polishing to achieve a smooth, consistent finish, and the application of a protective ceramic coating. This process revitalised the lifeboats’ orange exteriors, ensuring they remained both highly visible and resilient against harsh marine conditions, much to the client’s satisfaction.
Two Royal Fleet Auxiliary lifeboats had faded exteriors, with the once-bright orange gelcoat showing signs of oxidisation and a significant loss of vibrancy, reducing both aesthetics and visibility.
We carefully wet and dry sanded the GRP surfaces through successive grades, followed by compound polishing. A ceramic coating was then applied to restore depth of colour and provide lasting UV protection.
The lifeboats were restored to their original vibrancy, with a smooth, highly visible finish. The ceramic coating improved durability, enhanced long-term protection, and delivered results that exceeded the client’s expectations.
