MPC replaced a naval vessel’s galley deck with a Herculan Quartz non-slip system, resolving levelling issues and ensuring full drainage while delivering a durable, high-grip, and visually appealing finish.
The project involved removing old coatings, addressing uneven scuppers and plinths, and applying a multi-layer resin and quartz system. Careful masking and damming achieved correct falls, while the quartz blend and matt sealer provided exceptional slip resistance and long-lasting protection - meeting the vessel’s demanding operational and safety standards.
MPC was commissioned to replace the galley deck on a naval vessel, upgrading it with a Herculan Quartz non-slip system. The project required removing the existing coatings, addressing uneven scuppers and plinths, and ensuring the new surface was free-draining to prevent standing water.
The existing coatings were removed using a Kango, before the deck was scaled and prepared with diamond cup grinders and needle guns. After thorough degreasing and cleaning, we applied:
Special care was taken to mask and dam areas to achieve the correct drainage falls despite the original levelling issues.
The result was a free-draining, high-grip, and visually appealing galley deck, with the quartz system providing excellent slip resistance and the matt sealer adding further safety and protection. The vessel’s crew was highly satisfied with both performance and finish.
